Cardmon Hero is a new mmorpg being released by T3fun. It's not like your typical mmo where you fight alone, or in just a group, but there is an added feature of having summoned mercenaries in the form of cards to help you out. Collect, fight, and progress through this unique mmo with your cards by your side.
When I first logged into the game I wasn't sure what to expect. The game said that it has no classes, that you can get mercenaries to help you in battle, and that the game revolved around cards. So my first thought was of those trading card games, but if you expect the same, then you will be either disappointed or pleasantly surprised.
The character creation of the game is decent and offers you enough options to look a bit different than the crowd. One thing to note is since the game doesn't have classes, they instead offer you choices to pick out what your starting weapon will be. So if you have an idea of what type of character you want to be you can choose it here.
Tutorials are one of my favorite things in some games (Cardmon Hero Gold)since if it is complicated; you get a good overview when done correctly. This game doesn't really have a typical tutorial but does have help dialog that pops up every now and then to give you tips in game. There is also a few quests in the beginning which will help you understand some of the basics like attacking or summoning mercenaries. There is also a helper npc that shows up in the form of an icon on your screen. She has an interface you can use to get basic help on different aspects on the game if you have questions.
The game itself does base itself around cards, and in a unique way. As I mentioned, the game has no classes, with that you don't get skills by leveling. Sounds odd right off the bat, right? Well skills, like mercenary summoning is based off cards you earn, buy, or find while progressing through the game. Cards even take the place of potions that you would normally stock up on in towns. From all of these cards there are both permanent and one time use cards. The one time use cards usually have something unique about them. In the case of mercenary summons, you may instead get several instead of one and they may only be summoned on select maps. I like the card system in this game since it is fairly unique and easy to get into. These however can make leveling a bit too easy for people, especially since permanent cards for healing and mana regeneration can make it so you can keep spamming those cards every time the cool down is done. For me, it made it so I didn't need to party with anyone ever, which made the game feel more solo game. On top of that I didn't see that many parties in the game which did worry me some. As for the drop rate of the cards, it seems fairly high. When I usually go to empty my inventory by selling all the stuff I don't need, my bags were usually full of monster and sometimes skill based cards. So getting your new companions is fairly easy. The ark stones needed to summon cards was also fairly easy to acquire and I have yet to run out even though I summon two monsters at a time constantly.
